Additional learning support

We are fortunate enough to have a passionate and highly collaborative staff team in our school. As a School for Specific Purpose, there is a teacher and teacher's aide (SLSO) for every seven enrolments. There is also a dedicated Learning and Support Teacher, as well as a part-time school psychologist and a full-time youth worker.

Support that fits your child's needs

Some students need extra support to feel confident and do their best at school. We work closely with families to develop detailed personalised learning and support plans tailored to each child’s unique needs. Our approach is built on collaboration and teamwork, with parents at the centre of that team. We aim to build trust through open and frequent communication and share in the many successes and challenges of our students.

Additional learning support can include:

• detailed personalised learning and support plans for all students, regularly reviewed and updated
• small class sizes to allow for more individual attention and targeted teaching
• teachers and support staff working closely with families (and students, if needed)
• specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
• providing tailored programs to help high potential and gifted students with their advanced learning needs
• one-on-one tutoring to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support for students
• regular check-ins to review and update the planned supports
• extra guidance, simpler content or different focus during lessons

Assessment adjustments may include:

• more time
• simpler language
• breaks during tasks
• different ways to complete a task (e.g. oral presentations instead of written tasks).
