Student opportunities
At Woniora Road School, we believe every student should have the chance to explore their passions, build new skills, and connect with others. That’s why we offer a wide range of opportunities both in the classroom and across the school. Our programs help students discover new interests, make friends, and find their place in our community.
Our student opportunities include:
- Music therapy and band: A weekly program with a registered music therapist for students to express themselves and develop their musical interests.
- Community radio show: A weekly one hour radio show hosted by Woniora Road School students is broadcast on a local community radio station for students to share their voice and stories.
- Ceramics: Students have the opportunity to shape and create unique clay artworks with a volunteer ceramicist. Pieces are fired in the school kiln.
- Yoga/Pilates: To support student wellbeing students are offered the opportunity to relax and strengthen their mind and body with the assistance of a qualified pilates instructor.
- Room 13: An artist-in-residence program for student to take part in creative projects.
- Choir: Our music teachers lead the students and staff choir who rehearse on a weekly basis and perform at end of week assemblies or whole school events.
- Gaming: A lunch time program for students to connect and compete with others who share interests in games.
- Horticulture: A lunch time program for students to assist with the maintenance of the school's sensory garden.
- Green team: A volunteer school group comprised of staff and students dedicated to minimising the school's enviromental footprint.
- Student leadership opportunities: Our Student Representative Council plays a big role within the school. Student leaders design, plan and implement whole school projects aimed at improving the student experience at the school.
